Businessmen from both Bangladesh and Thailand have emphasized on enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries to expand markets in the Southeast and Asia-Pacific regions.

They also thought that implementation of a regional Free Trade Agreement (FTA) is essential in this regard.

These observations came at a meeting between the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) and the Thai-Bangladesh Business Council held today in the capital’s Gulshan area.

FBCCI administrator Hafizur Rahman was in the chair while Panom Thongprayoon, Chargé d’Affaires of the Royal Thai Embassy to Bangladesh was also present.

Highlighting the trade potentials between Bangladesh and Thailand, FBCCI administrator Hafizur Rahman said, Thailand is one of the key commercial hubs in the Asia-Pacific region while Bangladesh boasts a vast pool of skilled and young manpower.

He also underscored the need for a regional FTA to seize the market potentials and opportunities in the Southeast and Asia-Pacific regions.

Panom Thongprayoon, Chargé d’Affaires of the Thai Embassy expressed optimism that both sides would work closely to strengthen bilateral trade and mutual cooperation between Thailand and Bangladesh.
